Art show features two of my paintings, “Ballerina” and “B&W Beach.”
Sunday we had a “Family Paint Night” and I showed my family my technique for making abstract paintings using masking tape. Everyone had fun and the results are spectacular! <3
I’ve painted at least a hundred paintings outside in front of my subject (en plein air) from marshes to hillsides to sidewalks. Here are three tips I’d like to share:
1. Be prepared for any weather. I always carry a long-sleeved shirt in case it gets cold. I also carry two hats, one lighter to block the sun and the other is heavier with neck coverage.
2. Be prepared to improvise. I always carry a pocket knife for times I need to make a pallette from cardboard or cut a plastic bottle in half to use for paint water.
3. Bring a folding chair. The best places to paint don’t always have seating. Sometimes I’ll stand and put my supplies in the chair.
Painting at Greystone Manor. I use an old tackle box to hold my paints.
